Couples Therapy
“I don’t know how we got here.” I hear this from couples who love each other deeply but are unable to resolve a difficult family situation, residue from traumatic pasts, or mood, ADHD or addiction issues. In a nutshell, I help couples hear each other anew and learn a great deal about their own emotional needs and behavioral reactions along the way.
Loving couples, whether they are early in their relationship or have been together for many years, often get caught up together in a cycle of blame and hurt. They feel their partner is quick to criticize or, just as painfully, shut them out by pulling back emotionally. These conflicts take a toll on emotional and sexual intimacy, which is often hard for couples to talk about without feeling rejected or hopeless.
The couples I work with are often high-achieving, well-educated, self-reflective, and used to figuring things out on their own. They juggle the complexities of parenting, demanding jobs, travel, in-laws, and blended families.
As a trained, compassionate, active therapist who knows the patterns, emotional needs, and barriers that arise in romantic relationships, I help couples who want deeper, stronger connections in their relationship.
How I Help
My couples work is based in Emotion-Focused Therapy, an attachment-focused, evidence-based, gold standard model for relationship therapy. The treatment process is transparent and our work is collaborative.
Together, we learn what triggers you most deeply. We use that understanding to help you develop more flexible responses when conflicts arise.
By enabling vulnerability and responsive empathy during sessions, I help couples work through life’s challenges as loving partners, not adversaries.
