About Me
It’s not easy to find a therapist who loves working with both individuals and couples. When you’ve decided it’s time to fix what’s gone wrong in your relationship, it can be hard to find someone with the experience, passion and training to help you. I’ve worked with people at all stages of their relationship, from unmarried to long-married to separated to those deciding whether and how to establish a family. I know how hard it can be to seek help, to open up the good, bad and messiness of your relationship to a stranger. I know the patterns, sticking points and barriers that arise when couples and individuals confront their relationship difficulties. I also know the relief couples experience when they can finally let go of blame and allow themselves to feel understood—by themselves and by their partner.
Relationships are at the heart of my work with individuals, too. How we see ourselves is deeply rooted in how we feel with the people in our lives. Research consistently shows that the greatest predictor of change in therapy is a good therapeutic relationship. Acceptance of ourselves, our weak spots, insecurities, our errors in judgment frees us to take risks, make more mistakes or even look foolish…because that’s human. That is how we grow. I'm grateful for the opportunity to show and give compassion. We can take ourselves seriously and lightly, often in the same session, and make space for laughter.
I have treated patients experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, post-traumatic stress, addiction and major life changes. I have a special interest in women’s issues, particularly struggles around fertility, pregnancy, motherhood, and forming blended families.
